As others have mentioned, this ride is really just a shell of it's former self. As live action production eventually ceased, and then the animation unit terminated, the Studio's only relevance was now as theme park, and the significance the tour -- since there was no real studio to tour anymore - was greatly reduced. They probably just need to kill it. It's almost as if they keep the tour around to maintain the illusion of an actual working studio. It's really too bad.
