Hippos on Kilimanjaro Safaris

I have been having a debate with my SIL about the hippos on the Kilimanjaro Safaris. I believe that they are real. My SIL says that they are not, because they are considered dangerous and have killed many people in Africa.
Can anyone help me with this debate?

This is just screaming for me to reply, so here I go

Hippos are amongst the deadliest and largest animals in Africa, my mother being the largest. These hungry hungry hippos are really peaceful and will not attack unless they feel threatened, or if you make the sound of a white marble. We're proud to have 12 of these majestic creatures here *BANG* 11, make that 11 of these creatures. Hey, he was charging the boat, ok? I only accept cash during the day time. Actually, I scared him off, it never hit him. I'd like to call that a hippo-shot-a-miss.

And if you are here from my safari, you too have made a hippo-shot-a-miss with your guess.

I'm pretty sure they are really real hippos. I dont think Disney would want to put fake hippos in a ride and water and electicy dont mix. In Busch Gardens the hippos there are real, so I dont see why Disney wouldnt put real ones in.

As for the killing of people in Africa, the ride drivers in KS probably radio them and tell the hippos whereabouts in the water and if you've looked or read in articals on the internet there is an invisible wall in the water to keeping animals away from the car. Plus just watch them so see how much they move on the ride.

Or if you want to explain to your SIL the hippos are real just tell them to poke them with a stick to find out if they dont believe you. = ]

The hippos on KS are real and they have real snot if they sneeze too close to the bus. (Ask my dd and nephew if you don't believe me.)

And yes, the hippos are 100% real. If you're lucky you might see them up walking around.

the hippo in KS are real this week they have been out of water a lot this and my mother has seen them "leaving a deposit" if you know what im say out side of water unless disney has some crazy audio animatronics they are real

All animals are real. The hippos are trained with a clicker like you teach a dog with. They feed them by hand treats when they bring them in for a quick lookover or when medical attention is needed. They train them to enter into these kinda cages so if the shift their weight and move they won't crush the handler. I think Lou had at one time the Safari that you pay for extra that brings you out on his podcast. Also if you watch I think its Discovery Channel you can see how they handle the animals and most are quite tame BUT there're still animals.

Correct me if I am wrong since I havent been on since they changed the storyline, but isnt one of the animtronic elephants still there.? "little Red" ? I think. So if if he is, then not ALL the animals are real.
