    Camera Tripods in the parks

My next trip in Sept. I will have a little extra time to walk around and spend taking Photos in the parks. At night time, My camera really needs to be on a tripod to get a good photo. My question is: Will they allow Me to enter all of the parks carrying a large tripod with Me? Any help would be great! I would hate to get all the way there and they say I am not allowed in with the tripod and have to go all the way back to the resort with it. Thanks in advance for Your help!

I'm pretty sure they will. You just may not want to carry it! I'm pretty sure I've seen people with them there before!

The answer is yes. I took my tripod with me a few times for night shots for the same reason. In my case I just had it in the bottom of my son's stroller but it was never an issue. Be careful where you setup to get your shots though. I setup looking toward the Epcot sphere from the other side of the fountain and had someone come up to me and hand me their photopass! LOL!

LOL, that's priceless! Thanks. I will most likely come back to the park a bit later on and do some shots of attractions that look really cool all lit up at night. I am just so tired of seeing My night shots when I transfer them onto My laptop in the room later on to see that I really did not get the shot I was looking for. For all the money I spent on this camera and lenses, I don't want it to just be a point and shoot camera. I want to see if I can learn a little about night photography. Thanks for both of Your replies. You have been a big help.

Funny! Just back you up, you're right , tripods are allowed. I see people with video camera tripods quite often.

also you can use stationary objects to stabilize your camera. there are plenty of shoulder height objects you can use and save yourself the hassle of carrying a tripod around everywhere

We found a pod... just one leg! It helped but still wasn't as good as a tripod. But we kept it on our strollers during the day.

My tripod was with me at all times on the last trip. When shooting the fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian, we got stopped many times being asked what "magazine" we were working for...LOL

I have found that you tend to get harassed more at Disneyland for having a tripod and "big lenses" than at WDW

I carry a little 6" tripod with me. It's small enough to carry anywhere. It's easy to set up on most anything. I'll even use it to lean on a tree.

Really shouldn't be any problem carrying around a tripod. I have a couple times and have gotten some great shots that way! A gorilla pod works really well too.

A great alternative to tripods is a home made mini bean-bag. I made one filled with dried lentils, if you dont fill it too much so it stays squishy (technical term there!), it can create a stable base on thousands of solid objects to nestle your camera onto. When i was first told of the trick i doubted how well it would work, but it can be more stable than some tripods i've tried over the years.

I am happy to hear that it is ok to bring a tripod in. I do have the small 6" tripod, but with My larger lenses attached, the camera tips over. LOL. And being over 6 feet tall, I need the big tripod, cause it raises up even higher than Me. Helps out with the bad back. Thank You everyone for the imput. You guys are great!
