Is The Joker too scary for Not So Scary?
I think it's safe to say that the most popular costume this year is going to be people dressed as The Joker, a character that many (like my daughter) find scary and very disturbing. The Official Disney policy reads...
For safety, please choose costumes that are not obstructive or offensive.
Do you think Disney may try to classify grown-ups dressed as The Joker to be "offensive"? It feels like a grey area, but one that - considering the character's overwhelming popularity - Disney should address directly as acceptable or not.

My interpretation of that would mean that you wear something that isn't going to put you or anyone else close to tripping or falling, that all personal parts of your anatomy are covered, and that the theme of your costume wouldn't be of an adult nature. I don't recall seeing really scary costumes unless they were of evil Disney characters, but I'm sure there are some.

The joker is only going to be scary to a child that's seen the film, I know it's a PG13 but I wouldn't recommend it for any small children. If they haven't seen it - it's just another scary clown, loads of us suffer from clown fear anyway!
-
If Disney allows 20-something aged women to wear naughty nurse, witch, etc costumes, they are going to allow people to dress as The Joker from the latest Batman movie.
-
The Joker is only as scary as the person behind the make-up. Otherwise it's a clown in a purple and green suit.
Your best bet is to take her to a costume shop and show her that regualar good guys are going to be wearing it this Halloween for fun.

Re: Is The Joker too scary for Not So Scary?
If you do the Joker,go back to the original tv series of Batman, with Adam West, and use the milder version of the Joker, played by Caesar Romero.

Then they'll respond "there was a TV show?".

I can't figure out if your question is serious or a little humourously;meaning that you do know who Adam West is.
So here goes:Adam West is the actor that originally played Batman on the 60's tv show.Robin, the Boy Wonder, was played br Burt Ward.Several "big name" actors and actresses played on the show, mostly as villians.Just to name a few:Julie Newmar-Catwoman
Eartha Kitt-Catwoman
Lee Merriwether-Catwoman
Frank Gorshin-The Riddler
Burgess Meredith-The Pinguin,he also played Rock'y trainer in the first couple of Rocky movies(don't remember his character name)
Caesar Romero-The Joker
Liberace-don't remember his character name
Vincent Price-don't remember his character name
Yyvonne Craig-Batgirl(Commissioner Gordon's daughter)
Several others as well.
If you question is meant to be slightly sarcastic-like I said,in reference that you do know who Adam West is,then that's cool. But now you also know some of who was also on the 60's series as well.If you are familiar with all of these, add to the list if I forgot any.

Sorry! I put the winking face there thinking you all would know it was a joke. Guess it was a little vague. Thanks for posting the actors, though! Even though I grew up watching reruns of the Batman TV series, I didn't really know all these actors, so that was really neat to read.
And I do know who Adam West is. He's the mayor of Quahog!

Adam West, for the younger people who come on this site, is most famous for being a voice actor now on shows like "Family Guy" and "The Fairly OddParents".
