I know most people don't like it and I am far from a big fan, but Primeval Whirl is fun and my kids love Triceratops Spin so......
Let's Go!
Let's Not!
What do you think...............Is it a well placed diversion, or a kitchy dumping ground for a bunch of carnival stuff?
I enjoy the roadside attraction themeing. It reminds me of the drives down to WDW when I was a kid and seeing the signs on the highway trying to lure us off the road. Dad would have no part of it of course, and you could see his hands tighten up on the steering wheel every time someone read one of the billboards out loud.
I'm curious to hear what the rest of you have to say.....

At first, I absolutely hated it. I could not stand the look of it and felt like it didn't fit in with the rest of the park. But after hearing Lou and Jeff Pepper talk about it on the show, I started to appreciate it a lot more. During my next trip, I swore I would look for the details that they talked about on the show, and I now love Chester and Hester. I think it is very well themed and just very enjoyable.
I hated it until I learned all the backstory about it. I'm looking forward to checking it out in detail someday.
My kids loved the rides and Boneyard, although we never played the carnival games. I guess I'm one of those dads that tightens on the steering wheels and says no.
I like the back story (common folks set up a carnival across from the Dino Institute to catch tourist dollars). It is kinda fun, but it isn't necessarily the most inspired part of DAK.

Similar to other responses, I didn't like it at first and didn't think it fit in at WDW very well even though I enjoyed the rides. Each time I go, it grows on me a little more, but I'm not sure I'll ever completely embrace it like I do the rest of AK and the other parks.
I like primeval whril, but the set up around it. I'm sorry, but it just feels cheap. Like it dosen't belong with the dino theme for that part of the park. They could have made primeval whril a darkride and did more dino theme around it.
My kids enjoy it so that is all that matters.
I like the rides, primeval whril is a favorite...
I enjoy the carnival games...
It's got a good back story....
Actually, it reminds me of days of my youth when a carnival would come to town and set up in a local shopping center parking lot. We had such good times at those carnivals. For me, this area is a real touch back to those youthful times.
So, thumbs up from me.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Primeval Whirl, it's so so so fun. The thing is, the area does not fit into the theming of the park and area on a whole
I hope we never lose sight of one thing, that it was all started by a mouse.
I don't like it. I think the theming is tacky and it totally ruins the rest of Dinoland. Dinoland had really nice theming back when it was just the Dino Institute.
Upcoming Trips to WDW:
Dec 6-10: Disney Wonder
Dec 10-19: Port Orleans French Quarter
when i was there, oct 2008, there were like 3 games open and it was almost deserted. it looked awful. i played whack a dino or whatever you call it, and my opponents were all under 12. i won but couldn't keep something i beat little kids for so i turned around and gave my little dino toy to a little girl who had a birthday pin on who didn't want to play. the place looked like a little carnival they set up in a shopping plaza. definitely not up to disney standards.
I like the large shop there, but I've never rode any of the rides. After reading the Imaginere's Field Guide to Animal Kingdom and learning of it's backstory though, I am now interested in going back and searching out small details that relate to the backstory.

We skipped over it because it looked like a cheap side-show Carnival. Of course, it was very, very hot that day and the sun was beating down on that whole area.
