Enough Time in Hollywood Studios?

My friend and I are arriving Sept 10 at 11:30 AM and want to head right to Hollywood Studios as soon as we check into our hotel (Pop Century). We have ADR @ 4:00 for 50's Primetime and definitely want to see Fantasmic at 8:30. If we skip the other shows (like Indiana Jones, etc.) do you think this 1 day would be enough time to get in everything, or do you think we should try to squeeze in a few hours on our final day? (Sunday Sept 13- we're planning to Magic Kingdom all day (doing some short visits on the days before at MK before the full day on Sunday), with Extra Magic Hours- we could possibly do say 3 hours at HS in the morning)

Re: Enough Time in Hollywood Studios?

It's quite possible. But there are other shows and stuff you definitely want to see.Don't miss the stunt show if it is still operating, tower of terror and rockin rollercoaster for sure.Great movie ride is old and needs some refurbishing, but I would not miss it;it is still a good ride to do.Star tours is good.I'd bypass the muppet show, but I would see the little mermaid show.Don't miss the animation tour it is good.Other than this,I am not sure what else.Enjoy your time at 50's prime time cafe.It is great!

Re: Enough Time in Hollywood Studios?

Thanks! The hard part is, I've been a few times so want to fit in everything imaginable, especially since my friend hasn't been before. Last time I went, I was able to do all parks in 3 days, but that was gangbusters style and I hardly spent time in Animal Kingdom. My neurotic ways and making me panic- "Will I able to do everything I want in 4 days?"

Re: Enough Time in Hollywood Studios?

I would try fitting a little more time in somewhere for Hollywood Studios. There is so much to do there!!

Just remember.....if you don't get it all in this trip, it just means you have to go back to Disney for another trip!!

Re: Enough Time in Hollywood Studios?

We were considering maybe trying to squeeze in like 3 hours on our last day before we spend the remainder of that day at Magic Kingdom (w/ Extra Magic hours). I just hope we even have time for everything Magic Kingdom! I'm such a worrier- and such a fan of the parks. My friend hasn't been before, so she wants to take it slow, etc. I don't think she knows the "high" you get when you get into the parks.

How true how true.
But sadly, when we've done the speed park thing,we wind up missing so much that after we leave,we always say,I wish we'd done this,or why didn't we just go ahead and wait in line for the......So,since your friend has never been to WDW,I'd say slow the pace some, and experience as much as possible in the time yall have.Like another poster said,if ya can't do it all in this trip, you'll have to go back.Basicly, just an excuse to go back anyway.

I like the caption I've read in this forum before,it goes like this:"For those that get it,no explanation is needed, for those that don't,no explanation will do!"

So yall take your time and have a great time, wish we could join you!

Re: Enough Time in Hollywood Studios?

Excellent point! I think we'll need a planning session of what we absolutely can't miss- especially for Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom.

Thanks for all your help!

With the EMH at MK, that definitely is the best day to get those extra few hours at DHS in the morning, just in case ya' need it to do it right, and ya' probably will.
'Commandoing' the parks is not as fun, even though, hey it's Disney and ALWAYS fun!
And that caption up there that I have seen many times, is PERFECT!!!

We're park commandos. We never hop, one park a day, all day, open to close, all 15-16 hours. You've gotta be intense to do Disney like this but considering the time of year you're going, I don't think you'll have a problem with crowds.

Howdy Nurse Natalie!
We did the commando thing with younger kids and hoppers in '01 ALL day at more than 1 park each day with 4 days in the parks and it was still a blast. Had 5 day hoppers with the kiddo's in '04 and it was a little less intense and even less in '07 with 6-day hoppers. In Dec. '08, went without kids and it was commando city again! I just always want to be the first one there and the last one out at closing...!

Commandoing the parks is not as fun with children, anyway... But with a group of Disney-junkie buddies, it's off-the-charts fun!

Re: Enough Time in Hollywood Studios?

Totally agree Mr. Mr. Steve! We had 8 day base tickets for the honeymoon and we commadoed the first 4 and each park and then slowed it down the second 4. Still stayed all day and took advantage of all the evening EMH. A married couple that was in our wedding however, did the morning EHM and managed to get 11 rides in at MK before we even got there.

We've done the hopping some before, but we also like to stay in one park all day and then a different park the next day.Reason:too much time is wasted by hopping.By the time you get to the front gate, wait for a bus or a watercraft,or the monorail, you have wasted a lot of time, not to mention, having to commute to the next park, get off the transportation vehicle, walk the long walk to the front gate, wait in line,go through security check.WHEW! You've wasted pretty close to an hour,if not more! So one park, one day, that's the best way to do it,in my opinion.
Plus we've done the speed-park day,(as I call it),and there is so much you miss or bypass, just to go from ride to ride.So many smaller insignificant things in each park that are really great viewings or neat to just hang out at,that are missed by too many park-goers.So we have slowed down the pace, quite alot and have really enjoyed see ing what we have previously missed.

I've also done a park a day, but I have no problem with the transporting. Taking the time to take the water taxi from Epcot to DHS or something is a good relaxation time to just sit and chill for a little while.
