Am I the only one that really likes this for more than rest/air conditioning? Seems like everyone I have gone with likes it because it's a nice place to sit down...I actually like the show and LOVE the dinosaur part. The whole Ellen thing/show could be updated, but I really like UoE and can't wait to go next time (it was closed for refurb/painting last time I went)

Any more fans of the Universe of Energy attraction out there? You don't hear about it as much as the others, but it's one of my favorites at EPCOT.

You are not alone. I do enjoy the acutal ride ( not just the rest ) although part of it for me may be nostalgia as it is one of the original 7 attractions in Future World. I remember as a kid having to wait in a GINORMOUS line outside the pavillion before you could even reach that cool, sweet and delicious air conditioning inside the show building. Still a classic to me and one I ride every time I visit ( if it's open that is ).

When my kids were babies we always hit there to give them a bottle and put them down for a nap (haunted house worked too).

It always took such a long time to do the pre-show and then the main attraction. I like it well enough, it just does take a chunk of time. If we were down for an extended trip we hit it.

Last few times we were down it was closed. Seems to be a seasonal building now, when attendance is high.

and i am in the majority... those of us who are ok with watching the attraction... but use it more as a rest spot and an A/C recharge...

It's seasonal? I haven't heard of it being closed except closing early at 7PM. I know it was down for refurb last year when I was there in March.

I love it, too, because it is a FW "original" and hasn't changed much. I am glad Disney painted the building back the way it originally was. The show needs updating, though...the whole Ellen thing is outdated. With "going green" all the rage now, I definitely think it's a viable idea, but I would suggest shortening the film parts and either making a new one with Ellen or finding someone else and just updating it overall. It's 14 years old. I would leave the "ride" part as it is, I love that!

Thank goodness Exxon's departure didn't make Energy go the way of WoL after MetLife left. Then again, if every pavilion closed when a sponsor left, there would be very little left to see at EPCOT...

this is true... and the Imagination pavilion would then be a goner now that Kodak has pulled out...


and yes the Ellen thing really needs to go... her and "Bill Nye" just arent the "heavyweights of hollywood..." ( i cant say that with a straight face) that they used to be...

Yeah, Bill Nye and Ellen (the way she is portrayed) seem so 90s. That isn't really the talk show Ellen most are really familiar with now. More like her TV series back then. Similar to Honey I Shrunk The Audience...huge when the attraction started, but not any more, really.

The Land would be a goner too since they lost Nestle in 2009...The Seas was sponsored until 2001and is still here...will be interesting to see.

I have to admit, it's one of my least favorite attractions. I don't know if its because of the length of the ride, or the fact that I'm not too interested in the information but I'm just not a fan. I LOVE Ellen though, so its a shame. I use it for an A/C break/quick nap time.

the problem is that too many of us remember what happened to Wonders of Life... no sponsor... closed... unfortunate but it definitely should be a concern...

I still think there was more to Wonders of Life than losing a sponsor- the attendance was probably poor, which could be blamed heavily on the hidden location, very easy to miss. They pretty much let it go after MetLife bailed and didn't seem to want to be bothered with it. We haven't seen the same anywhere else, or yet at least.

Most are in much better locations, if WoL had been in a better location I'm sure they would have done something with it. I don't think Universe of Energy is going anywhere, they gave it a refurb last year, so there is still interest in it. Same for The Land, The Seas, and probably Imagination.

I like parts of the attraction, there's some parts I'd wish they'd change due to my personal beliefs, but I can't say I'm surprised with what they did.

Anyway, I'd love to see the old UOE theme come back.
