After reading your post, I thought you meant that the RIDE was now going in the opposite direction! That would certainly take an Engineering feat. But after watching the video, I see where they've swapped the entrance and exit only. Whew.

I watched the video... Are there any other changes? I'm so bad at spotting things like that... I know there was talk of adding the charecters similar to Disneyland -- maybe I just didn't notice them...?

No, they were just changing the load/unload procedures, I believe. Small cosmetic changes, nothing to the ride itself after the last coat of fresh paint.

Oh the confusion this will cause for those visiting MK on autopilot. Good thing they don't serve beer in the park. Just kidding, I'm sure this change will improve the line.

That seems like a pretty excessive time to have a ride down -- only to switch which direction people are walking... Pretty dissapointed anyways about it being closed while we were there (being that it was Hatem's first time, and you should ALWAYS have to ride IASW on your first trip!) but now even more dissapointed that it was closed for just...this.

Am I completely deluded, or had they already played about with the load/unload of the ride only a few years ago? Have they decided to go back to the original, or try Plan C, or am I just making this all up?

I thought they had also. The more I think about this - the more ridiculous it becomes. Oy.

I watched the video, it's great. IASW looks cleaner and brighter than I've ever seen it. All the dolls and sets are functioning well too. Have you ever seen the Mexican sun's rays move so quickly?

They had to have spend some time inside the ride fixing things up in addition to flipping the queues. The ride is much better than when I saw last it in May.

Still doesn't improve the too-slow speed or monotony of the ride, though. Just brighter to lure you on and control the lines for Peter Pan across the way.

Ha! I wish you would explain that to my kids. They pull me on Small World over and over every time we go. Last trip: 6 times in one day.

Actually as I've gotten older and racked up the nautical miles on IASW I've grown to love it. Mary Blair's color work is impressive, and the ride meant a lot to Walt. Seeing the awe on my kids' faces is what put me over the top.

But no doubt it's slow and repetitive . . . that's why young children love it. They're able to process the story.

There are countless attractions shut down like this during off seasons.
The Land at Epcot closed for a long time for refurb and nothing...only to close again for close to nothing besides dumping a few new boats in.
Think of all the staff they save under the disguise of a refurb.

Ah, but his is one of the two rides that motivated Walt to create Disneyland. How far we have come.
