We've never experienced it. I've honestly not wanted to sacrifice precious park time on it when there is RNR and ToT to ride. Plus, with the updated Star Tours, we'll still keep passing by it until they use that space for something else. It just doesn't interest me.
Rumor . . . Disney might turn the space into a convention space like the Odyssey at Epcot where people can book it for special events. Note, this is just a rumor. Nothing is confirmed until Disney officially announces their plans.

You are correct. Disney has always had problems with that particular block of the Studio's. Sooner or later one could hope Disney could make that block something overwhelmingly good.
Look how many decades it took Disney to finally fix the block now known as Pixar. Finally but decades of mediocre up-until then.

Well we have been HogSwaggled before but..........
…We're hearing rumors that the days for Sounds Dangerous are numbered, and that the attraction will disappear from the Disney's Hollywood Studios park maps as of the special edition being released for Star Wars Weekends in May 2012. This is only sketchy information at this time, and may not be accurate.

The day has only been inevitable for a while now. With the open again/closed again phases it's going through, you have to imagine that they're planning something for that location. The crowds for Sounds Dangerous have been low for years, so they have a legitimate reason to get something new there to attract more crowds.
I'd be a bit sad to see it go (finally), but hopefully whatever replaces it will be enjoyable.

I'm always a bit guarded with announcements even when Disney officially announces them. Just look at how many projects are just pulled and even halted. Welcome to the mess in DTD right now. Ya never know.

I actually like the Sounds Dangerous. Not my top choice, but I find it very very relaxing. I wonder how many people that are glad to see it go, will make sure they experience one more time.

I loved SD from the first time I "heard" it. I thought it was clever. When the seats were breaking and the headphones not working right, it either needed to be repaired or go. If you can't sit or hear what is the point.
