Disney's "Special" FastPasses Return
So what do you think of Disney Parks new "Special," bonus Fastpass?
It appears Disney has rolled the "Special" out from hiatus again. How it works: You get a FastPass to Space Mountain and get a bonus Special FastPass to Carousel of Progress. Indiana Jones the Special one Is American Idol.
A few years back was Soar'n and the Special was Honey I Shrunk the Audience.
So why is Disney doing this? The Special FastPasses are generally to attractions that are no longer full at anytime. So they are special why?
Re: Disney's "Special" FastPasses Return
It makes guests feel like they've gotten something extra.

You hit the nail on the head, "Feel like" and ultimately find out you were shuffled into an attraction that isn't popular, obvious when you walk in with others into a pretty empty theater. :faint:
Don't you wonder what the CM's are thinking when they see a family proudly handing over their "Special" FastPass to CoP which is normally a walk on?
Re: Disney's "Special" FastPasses Return
I think it is special because it helps distribute crowds.

I'm thinking you are right. and :inquis:.
It does demonstrate why you need a good, independent tour book if you are not overly familiar with Disney Parks.
Re: Disney's "Special" FastPasses Return
Ok so what I'm trying to figure out is, why would you need a FP to CoP? Even during peak, because it's a large theater that spins and refills every few minutes, there's never a "wait". Next question... CoP doesn't have a separate FP entry does it? So I gotta agree... what's the point?
Re: Disney's "Special" FastPasses Return
Seems like, to me, they're trying to alleviate crowds on the E-ticket attractions while at the same time trying to get people to the (much) less popular ones. 2-for-1 sale for Disney. Disperses the crowds, keeps guests appeased but can still run the same crowds through attractions (while getting more people on the lesser-ridden/seen ones).
That's what I'm getting at...got it...they want more people on the much lesser used attractions. Makes sense, so good for them.

Very well said. Could probably say win-win situation.
Re: Disney's "Special" FastPasses Return
I just received one the other week when I was getting a FastPass for Winnie the Pooh and out popped one for Mickey's PhilharMagic. It was a pleasant surprise, even though PhilharMagic was not crowded.

Exactly the point. They are spitting fast passes to attractions that don't need a fastpass.
Basically to the guest a worthless special surprise to an under utilized attraction.

Maybe to simply remind you it is there... I don't really have an answer on that... I don't think it will do anything to crowd distribution... I think it is trying to keep attendance up at other attractions... As of to remind you of their existence and a oh by the way you can get right in if you go...
Re: Disney's "Special" FastPasses Return
can anyone give me a list of the rides and there specials? wow thats different

That is it exactly. It's a reminder to people that there are other attractions, that otherwise might be unnoticed just because there is no line in front of them...

There isn't a specific list - it can be rather random. But the common destinations at MK are Carousel of Progress and PhilharMagic, and Winnie The Pooh is a common source.
I've never seen them at the other parks.
Re: Disney's "Special" FastPasses Return
There isn't really small type at the bottom of the special FPs that allows the holder to tour the suite in Cinderella Castle? I mean, I would ride CoP anyway but that would be a nice extra.
