Orlando, Florida - Orange County Sheriff's detectives are investigating the death of a 12-year-old girl at Disney World.

Detectives say the girl had visited a wave pool, the Typhoon Lagoon.

Lifeguards noticed the girl lying on a ledge out of the water Thursday and asked if she was OK.

She told them she was fine and wanted to be left alone. But officials say she stood up and
immediately passed out.

Lifeguards performed CPR and she was taken to Celebration Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Her identity is being withheld until her parents in Newport News, Virginia, can be notified.

A Walt Disney World spokesman says Disney is trying to take care of the family's immediate needs, such as transportation.
