    Because Green and red are opposites on the color wheel and the red of the sidewalks enhances the green of the grass in the Town Square and hub areas of Main Street U.S.A.?

    well it is that reason, but Disney also says that seeing how MK is a "show" they wanted to give the a Red Carpet to walk on.

    Actually, The reason I gave at the top is the reason stated in the Imagineering Field Guides for both MK and DL. However, I have also read about Walt's red carpet reason in the past, as well. I've also read about research that was done with Kodak having to do with red being a good color for photo contrast as well as for safety reasons, also.

    Around the hub they are for what Dizisit said, to enhance the photo ops.

    So disney_freak is the most correct answer from what I can see
