    1925 Vision of the Future

I found this picture on a digg.com link earlier today. It's a vision of the 1950's future that was drawn in 1925. Very interesting and has a lot a parallels to the ideas Walt would have for his original vision of EPCOT:

I wonder if Walt as inspired by this image.

Here's the original link: 1925's vision of 1950's America [PIC]

It's quite possible. I think one of the things that made Walt successful is that he didn't operate in a vacuum. He learned what he needed to know for the projects he wanted to do. And he also was VERY good at surrounding himself with talented people which is almost always necessary for success.

Cool picture, though! I wanna live there!!!

That is a great pic, funny to see how they were worried about the same things in 1925 that we are still worrying about, to many people and not enough space.
It's kind of fun to do the impossible!

Re: 1925 Vision of the Future

    Very cool!
There's an early "Project X" (as Epcot was referred to at it's inception) cutaway rendering done by Herb Ryman that is somewhat similar. No airships, of course, in the Ryman rendering, and no people mover or monorail in the '25 sketch. The freight tubes very much remind me of the AVACS system in the Utilidors at MK, though...!
Question: How many Imagineers does it take to change a light bulb?
Answer: Does it have to be a light bulb?

Just in case you're interested, Progress City USA's been doing a review of Ryman's life lately. I believe they're just about to start with his work with Imagineering so this cutaway might be shown and maybe some other relevant info. Don't know, of course, as I'm not connected with the blog but it's something I follow. Anyway... in case you want to check it out the link for one of the recent articles is The Ryman Centennial: An Intermission With Herb | Progress City, U.S.A.

Re: 1925 Vision of the Future

Every time I get stuck in traffic in downtown Atlanta, I think - Why don't they have an interstate over the interstate in which people passing through, not getting off an exit, can go straight over? The lower road can be for traffic getting off on the exits. I see something like that in the picture, so my idea was not altogether original.
