This one is frustrating me.
I've seen the Travel Channel Disney show in which the answer was referrenced more than once, but it is an older show that I have not seen in a while. Please give me a little more time to research.
But, sorry, so far, I have not seen the answer here that I'm looking for, so keep guessing...I guess...!![]()
MMmm?... Time to keep guessing!... but what to guess?..

I'm so sorry Rich and gang...
No matter how much I've searched, I can't find confirmation of this anywhere, so I'm just gonna' throw it out there to see if any of y'all remember hearing about it.
When they did the first test in an enclosed tower, like a piston in a cylinder, they did not compensate for the compression of the air from the drop vehicle and it either blew out or buckled the walls towards the bottom. So instead of just "venting" the drop shafts, they decided to create the openings that we can see and hear the guests screaming out of to achieve both the thrill and the practical effects at the same time.
Anyway, that's what I heard.
Again, my apologies.
I bump to another member...![]()
