One of the things I enjoy sharing on the show are interviews with people whose work in the Disney Parks you may enjoy, but whose names you may not know. From Imagineers to artists. performers and more, each has their own journey and stories to share. This week, I want to introduce you to Casey Jones, a Senior Character Artist for the Disney Design Group. A former comic book artist for Marvel, he now helps to create some of our favorite icons and merchandise in the parks and Disney Cruise Line. From Vinymlations and the Park Starz series, to the Muppets and recent re-introduction of nostalgic items like the Little Orange Bird, Casey shares how these items came to be, from their concept to production. We also discuss Marvel and Disney, what’s coming to Star Wars Weekends, advice for others, what we think or would like to see come next (including Avatarland), food, and much more.

I’ll have the answer and winner for last week’s Walt Disney World Trivia Question of the Week, and pose a new one for your chance to win a Disney prize package.

Hello my friends and welcome to The WDW Radio Show – Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello and this is show #115 for the week of April 19, 2009. Thank you for tuning in again this week for some fun, family-friendly Disney magic.

April showers may bring May flowers, and they also affect the vacations of Guests visiting Walt Disney World. And while many people look at the rain as something that will keep them stuck in their rooms, I look at it as a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the resorts and the parks, and maybe even a way to experience something that they never have before. This week, we’ll look at the Top Ten Things to Do In Walt Disney World when it Rains.

I believe that each day, we are all motivated by our dreams, both big and small. For many people, dreaming to be a part of the magic that they enjoy today or even experienced and impacted them as a child fuels their passion. And for many people, that dream has or will come true. And for one of Disney’s most talented character artists, he believed in and followed his dream, and now he’s making magic for us as Guests. So I want to introduce you to Brian Blackmore, Character Artist for the Disney Design Group. He not only recounts his personal journey from childhood watching Uncle Walt, to working for the company he loves so much, to sharing advice and practical tips on how to possibly follow your own dream, and even work in a place that truly creates magic for others.

Welcome back to The WDW Radio Show – Your Walt Disney World information Station, hosted by Lou Mongello. Thanks for tuning in once again. This is Show #16 for the week of May 27, 2007.

I’m back from Walt Disney World with my trip report and some wonderful information including some attraction and restaurant reviews, Cast Member stories, news and rumors, and some true “insider information” about something new coming to one of Walt Disney World’s theme parks early next year. As this trip afforded me the chance to meet Jeff Pepper, whom you’ve heard on a number of segments with me, he will join me to talk about the trip and some of the experiences we shared along the way. There’s a lot more to this report than just a summary of our trip, as we include our review of the Gran Fiesta Tour, a suggestion about how to possibly improve the ADR (Advanced Dining Reservations) system, some dining reviews, and introduce the first of a new “Hidden Treasures” segment, where we discuss the experience of an Illuminations Cruise.

I also came back with an exclusive interview with Mark Seppala, Senior Design Manager for Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. If you’ve ever purchased a souvenir, decoration, seasonal piece, home decorations, art or collectible, chances are he had a hand (literally) in creating it. He shares fascinating stories about his career at Disney, some of the legendary artists and animators he met, the process of creating merchandise and Disney pins, and even offers tips and suggestions for someone looking to join the Disney Design Group.

Of course, I will cover this week’s Walt Disney World News and Views, as well as take a trip to the Walt Disney World Rumor Mill, where we look at some rumors about merchandise, FASTPASS, Soarin’ and more.
