August 30, 1936 – The first comic strip dedicated entirely to Donald Duck debuts in newspapers.

August 27, 2006 – Walt Disney World’s Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are named #6 and #9, respectively, when the top 10 water parks in the United States are announced.

August 28, 1989 – Jim Henson and Kermit the Frog leave imprints and signatures in the courtyard of The Great Movie Ride at Walt Disney World’s, MGM Studios.

August 29, 1955 – The Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship and Restaurant opens in Disneyland’s Fantasyland. This will later be replaced in 1983 with a new version of the Dumbo attraction.

August 31, 2007 – L’Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante in EPCOT’s Italy pavilion in Walt Disney World closes

September 1, 2007 – the 360 degree film O Canada re-opens in Ecpot’s Canada Pavilion in Walt Disney World staring Martin Short

September 2, 1997 – The Enchanted Tiki Birds, Tropical Serenade, closes in Adventureland in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom for renovations. The attraction will re-open in April of 1998 asThe Enchanted Tiki Room – Under New Management

Question of the Week:                 

Donald Duck only appeared is Sunday Pages of the newspapers in the Silly Symphonies comics prior to August 1936, but he did end up getting a daily comic strip of his own. When was this?

Candra Spirtoff and Megan Voisard are identical twins, born and raised in Cincinnati,  Ohio. They both graduated from the University of Cincinnati, Candra with a Bachelor’s degree in Legal Assisting and Megan with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.  They currently work as a paralegals for a local law firm.  Their passion is anything and everything Disney, and they have visited WDW almost every year since 1988, at the age of four.
