There are so many things I love about Christy Viszoki, so here’s just another reason to add to the long list: she thinks about me and my blog posts while she’s touring WDW! While in the Art of Animation food court, Landscape of Flavors, she found some great, easy, on-the-go, meals and snacks that she shared with me! The great thing about these meals is that they are pre-packaged, already vegan! You don’t even have to order them with a special request!!

Let’s start with some pre-packaged Spicy Tofu! The label on the packaging proves its vegan-ness, and reads:

Spicy Tofu

INGREDIENTS:

Tofu, Spinach, Carrot, Mint, Parsley, Lemon Juice, Strawberry, Edamame, Corn, Red Pepper, Mandarin Orange, Red Onion, Hot Chili Sauce, Olive Oil, Cous Cous, Spanish Onion, Tomato, Salt, Black Pepper, Cilantro, Garlic, Lime Juice, White Vinegar, Distilled Water, Ginger, Sugar, Jalapeño Peppers, Canola Oil, Coriander.

How exciting is that?! The ingredient list is for all 4 trays of food in the container! If you are unfamiliar with identifying the foods in the picture above, I will help: The longer tray on the bottom is the Spicy Tofu. And on the top 3 trays, from left to right are: Cous cous, strawberries, and edamame with corn and red pepper. I can’t wait to try this next time I visit! (Though I will have to skip the cous cous since I am gluten-intolerant!

Next on the list at Landscape of Flavors is a great quick, portable, and healthy snack: Pretzels and Hummus! The hummus is Sabra, Classic Flavor which Ingredients are as follows:Cooked Chickpeas (Chickpeas [Garbanzos], Water), Tahini (Ground Sesame), Soybean Oil, Garlic, Salt, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate added to maintain freshness, Natural Flavors.

And the Pretzel Ingredients: Enriched Wheat Flour (Wheat Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Salt, Corn Oil, Malt Syrup.

What a great find, huh? Christy is hot on the trail with this next delight, as well!… For dessert we have Babycakes NYC! Any vegan traveling to Walt Disney World MUST make a note that ALL of Babycakes NYC’s food is completely vegan. It’s no accident, either! They pride themselves on that fact that they are vegan, so I won’t bother listing the ingredients here, but if you are interested, or have any allergen concerns, check out their website! At Landscape of Flavors, you can pick up a pre-packaged container of Babycakes NYC cupcakes! Don’t forget to, they are a MUST!

Angie has been a WDW addict since her first visit at age 8, and since then her life has never been the same! She lives in southeastern MA with her boyfriend, Kevin (fellow Disney lover), and their 3 dogs, Flip, Josie, and Hildy, where she is currently training to become a professional dog trainer. Please join Angie every week in “Fish Are Friends, Not Food: Eating Vegan in WDW!” Angie believes that WDW is the most magical place for people with special diets, so, should you have any special diet questions (especially about vegan and gluten-free dining) she’d be happy to help! Angie is also an artist, and you can see her work at www.angiecarreiro.com!

Disclaimer: This blog post, and all past and future Fish Are Friends, Not Food blog posts, are written with my most recent knowledge of the food in WDW parks. Please note that things are constantly changing, so this information might not always be up to date. Also note that I do not take into consideration refined sugar, cross contamination, or impure food items. With that said, always ask a chef before ordering if you are unsure about something, because the recipe may have changed or you may have a different way of defining your vegan lifestyle.

As I sat in Columbia Harbor House this past November, I sketched out notes about my trip to WDW, doing research for the blog. I knew I needed to come up with ideas for upcoming posts, but after coming up with the idea of writing a trip report, my mind went blank. So, I decided I needed to start thinking about how it all began in order to feel inspired. The reason I started writing this blog was because I wanted to do two things: 1. show that eating vegan in the parks can be just as easy as anything else and 2. be a helpful source for those looking for answers to dining vegan in the parks!

I’m so happy to report my blog is serving its purpose and that realization gave me an idea for a new post! So, here’s the post, featuring a recent comment exchange from one of my first blog posts about Mickey waffles:

Where can these waffles be found?
Do you have any vegan lunch and/or dinner suggestions?

Thanks a bunch!

The waffles can usually be found at any location already serving Mickey Waffles! This includes the breakfast buffets in the parks and all of the resorts that serve breakfast! If I name all of the restaurants that serve waffles already, this post would go on forever, so it’s easier just to give a couple examples: Cinderella’s Royal table in Magic Kingdom, all of the All-Star Resorts Cafeterias, Art of Animation and Pop Century Cafeterias, Kona Cafe in Polynesian Resort, Chef Mickey’s at Contemporary, etc. etc. The only locations that I wouldn’t bet on having the waffles would be places that wouldn’t have them anyway, like Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom for example…

As for other suggestions, I’m assuming you mean in the parks (or do you mean to cook at home? ’cause I got lots of great recipes I can send you!) As for the resorts/parks, it really depends on what your plans are for the day.
I HIGHLY recommend the vegetarian chili at Columbia Harbor house in Magic Kingdom right across from the Haunted Mansion. Another MK goodie is Tony’s Town Square, when you first enter the park, they’ll make you a vegan sauce to go on your pasta (basically oil, garlic, and veggies).
Epcot has Sunshine Seasons which has a lot of options. They had tofu at some point, but I think they recently substituted that option with Gardein faux-meats which are all vegan. They do stir fry there, too, so you can combine that with your Gardein option.
Animal Kingdom has amazing sweet potato fries at Restaurantosaurus that come on the side of a veggie sandwich/sub, just ask for no cheese. I would also double check with them the ingredients for the bread they use and if the bread isn’t vegan, ask them to put it on a tapioca roll!
Hollywood Studios has 50s Prime Time which I would say just go there to get french fries and a vegan milk shake and that would fill you up enough for lunch! But for a real meal, you definitely should go to Backlot Express which has a delicious, and I mean De-li-cious grilled vegetable sandwich! Ask for no cheese or pesto and substitute the bread for a tapioca roll (ask them to press the sandwich for you too!) Also a great bean salad comes on the side and is a MUST.
As for resorts, I highly, highly, highly recommend Animal Kingdom Lodge. Personally, I’ve dined at Boma and Jiko and they were perfect. I’ve heard Sanaa is great for vegan meals, too. At Jiko, just ask for the vegan menu and order to your heart’s desire. For Boma, it’s best to just tell your server you are vegan and they will get a chef to walk you around the buffet!
Honestly any counter service or table service restaurant you go to will accommodate you even if you forget to call ahead!
And, of course, keep reading the blog! Every Friday there is a new post about eating vegan at WDW and they will always start with the title: FIsh are Friends, Not Food!
Thanks for reading and asking for advice, I hope this helps!

Angie,

Wow! That was EXACTLY what I was looking for! What to get and where and not have to search all over the web. I already had 12 bookmarked sites I was dreading having to read through to get to the heart of it all.

Thank you sooo very much. I’m going to print your reply and keep in my pocket for quick reference. Lol!

I really do appreciate it and love the blog!

I’m SO happy you said that Patty! That is exactly the reason I wanted to start this blog, because there are just so many brief answers for vegan dining option in WDW all over the internet! If you need anything else, just ask!

____________________________________________________________

Thank you to Patty and all of my other readers! Keep the comments coming, I’d love to help!
