With the Academy Awards having honored the very best in the film-making industry recently, it's appropriate that this week I'm joined by two legends of Disney feature film animation. Don Hahn, animator, director and producer of such films as Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King talks with me about his career at Disney including being trained by Disney's Nine Old Men, creating Roger Rabbit, and his hand in the renaissance of Disney animation that began in the mid-80's. We also talk about his newest project, Waking Sleeping Beauty, a documentary chronicling and celebrating that time, and one that he produced with my next guest, Peter Schneider. The former President of the Walt Disney Studios talks about the rise and fall of animation during Disney's second golden age, as well as working with people like Michael Eisner, John Lasseter, Roy Disney and Jerry Katzenberg. We discuss the new film and how it tells the stories never before told, from the creative minds that actually lived it.

In some cases, they are fortunate enough to have the Characters and story lines go beyond the confines of the original, as in the case with what my guests this week have created. They are Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, bestselling authors of the Peter and the Starcatchers series of books, which recount the tales of Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and Captain Hook in the days before the original novel and Disney animated film. I had a chance to sit down with them in Walt Disney World and get a close look inside the collaborative efforts these two creative talents brought together to chronicle the adventures of Peter Pan before he lost his shadow.

The big news this week from Walt Disney World is the debut of a new show, and a new princess, and Tiana's Showboat Jubilee starts this week in Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom. The live musical production based on The Princess and the Frog starts with a parade processional that leads to a show aboard the Liberty Square riverboat. There, Princess Tiana, the first new Disney Princess since Mulan debuted in 1998 leads a cast in a fun-filled musical show. Walt Disney World is filled with some incredible, unique dining experiences, and this week, we visit Mexico's San Angel Inn, where the atmosphere is as wonderful as the cuisine. Modeled after a Mexican hacienda dating back to 1692, the restaurant sits in perpetual twilight on the banks of a river, across from a Mayan pyramid and ruins, and features authentic dishes evocative of traditional Mexican fare. This week, we offer a live review from inside the restaurant as we enjoy some of the Inn's appetizers, main courses, and of course, desserts, as our serve explains every aspect of the meal, and the culture to us along the way. It's a fun segment that I think will not only make you hungry, but will make you want to visit the restaurant and pavilion as well.

This week's show is a little shorter than usual due to my schedule and some other projects I'm working that I'm going to share with you soon, but I'm also releasing a number of new videos as well, including an interview with a true Walt Disney World icon. Much of the magic we enjoy about Walt Disney World is often subconscious, yet very important, including and especially the constant expectation and fulfillment of a place that is always neat, clean and incredibly manicured. But we as Guests never get to see what goes on after the parks have closed to really make that magic happen. Well this week, I’m going to try and help paint a picture of what goes on when the last Guest walks out of the gates, as I speak with managers of the horticultural and custodial cast. They explain just some of what goes on as the Magic Kingdom comes to new life overnight in the park.

I just returned from Walt Disney World for some more research and to cover another Star Wars Weekends, but of course while there, a man’s gotta eat, right? So this week I’m going to try and experiment with something new, and a bit different. Join me on a literal roundtable, as a group of friends and I do a live, on-the-spot dining review of Mama Melrose’s at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We’ll talk about the menu, review the food, and chat with our server, who shares some of the backstory of the restaurant.

It’s time to take a trip once again aboard my Walt Disney World Wayback Machine, as we’ll head back to the Magic Kingdom, but this time back in 1973, as we look at the graceful Plaza Swan Boats, which plied the waterways around Cinderella Castle.

I’ll have another Walt Disney World trivia contest this week, but this time, it’s just a little bit different – with a different format and an all-new prize.

We’ll look at the Polynesian Village through the years and explore some of its additions, changes and lost experiences. We’ll also talk about the resort today, and speculate as to what the future may hold.

This week was one that was filled with some exciting and important news coming from the Disney Company, so we’ll start of by taking a look at some of the notable events, including the naming of the two new ships of the Disney Cruise Line, enhanced environmental efforts Company-wide and in the parks, pirates that are breaking camp, and reports of a rat being spotted in one of Walt Disney World’s premier restaurants… much to the delight of Guests. We’ll take a quick visit to the Rumor Mill, and two possible changes and additions coming to dining and reservations.

But the biggest news coming out of the Disney Company this week was the big reveal of the “Are You 23?” campaign, as Disney announced D23, the all-new official community for Disney enthusiasts. With so much to cover and discuss about this important new club and all of its offerings and benefits, I gathered other members of the online community to discuss it in a roundtable format. Ryan Wilson and Chuck Lionberger join me as we take an in-depth look at the club, its elements, content, future and much more. I’ll preface our discussion by playing clips from the press conference held by Steven Clark, head of D23, Dave Smith of the Walt Disney Archives and Marty Sklar of Walt Disney Imagineering.

News from Walt Disney World starts off this week’s show, as we talk about how you can check in online before you arrive at your Disney resort, fun sporting events taking place this month, and a great way to spend an evening at the Flower Power Concert Series as part of Epcot’s International Flower & Garden Festival.

I am happy to be joined this week on a roundtable discussion by some of the greatest moms around, for they are some of the members of the 2009 Disney Moms Panel. This group of real-world moms (and a dad) offer advice to Guests traveling to Walt Disney World through an interactive Q&A site at DisneyWorldMoms.com. The moms join me to talk about the experience, some tips, some interesting questions they’ve received and lots more. It’s a fun conversation with some people who share our passion and get to help others with their questions.

I talk all the time about how Disney World is for everyone and how accommodating they are to so many people. What many don’t realize is that Disney also helps to recognize and help those people who serve the United States through military and uniformed service. Through a variety of programs, offerings and daily ceremonies, Disney makes it easy and affordable for military families to enjoy all that Walt Disney World has to offer. Staff Sergeant Mitch Brannen joins me to talk about the military’s private resort on property, discounts and benefits for the military and their families, as well as an often-overlooked, yet wonderful daily ceremony in the parks that every Guest should enjoy.

This week, I welcome in just such a guest. He is Ronald Cohee, feature animator, artist, and currently a member of the Disney Design Group in Walt Disney World. A longtime park enthusiast, he shares his story of how he came to work for Disney, films and projects he’s worked on, insight into what his experience has been like, advice for others looking to join the Company, and even some hints as to a few things that may be coming next.

And when I say everyone, I mean just that, as Disney is one of the best, most accommodating vacation spots for people with special needs. In this week’s very special roundtable, I’m joined by a number of guests, some of whom are authors of books about traveling to and touring around Walt Disney World with special needs, while others have unique needs of their own. And if you think that this segment might not apply to you or someone you know, you might be very surprised about what you’ll hear.

My next interview is somewhat unique and calls for a different kind of introduction. In response to a number of questions I received about this very topic, I’m going to talk about Walt Disney World, and its connection to the breakup of the Beatles. You might not know about how the two are linked, but I’m joined by May Pang, companion to John Lennon, who will talk about what took place at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, as well as John’s visits to Walt Disney World with his son. It’s an interesting look back at some of the private times of a celebrity in Walt Disney World, and the historic event that took place there.

I’ll start off the show with Walt Disney World News, and kick it off with a sneak peek at Disney’s new web site, a new store that just opened in the Magic Kingdom, of course some news about food, including a new dining location coming to Frontierland as well as important updates to dining reservations, and more.

January 8-11, 2009 marks the 26th annual Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, where 40,000 runners will test their endurance during a number of races throughout the weekend, including a half and full marathon. But in addition to the athletes, there is expected to be an additional 40,000 people converging on the Walt Disney World Resort to cheer on family, friends, and even complete strangers. And while I’ve done shows on training and preparing for the marathon, as well as a recap from a participant’s perspective, there has been little in the way of tips and strategies for spectators. This week, I’m joined by running and cheering veteran Bill Muldowney to discuss the best ways to get the most out of the experience if you will be going down to cheer, including the best ways to get around, where you should be and when, and how to be sure you not only see your runners, but they get to see you as well.

In a new Best of the Best segment, we’ll take a look at the Best Affordable Souvenir, and arguably the most Affordable Collectible in Walt Disney World. Disney dad Chuck Lionberger joins me to talk about searching for and collecting Pressed Pennies in and out of the parks. It’s an inexpensive, fun thing to do with everyone in the family, and we’ll give you different ways to find, collect, display and enjoy these wonderful little souvenirs.

In the Walt Disney World News this week, we’ll look at Disney’s latest technological initiative, which will keep Guests connected and informed in amazing new ways starting next year. I just returned from Walt Disney World, and brought back some audio segments that I think you’ll enjoy. First, I had a chance to visit and have a personal tour of the new Nine Dragons restaurant in China in Epcot’s World Showcase. Having recently opened after a long refurbishment, we discuss the changes to the restaurant’s décor and menu, as well as explore its cultural heritage and beautiful, rich symbolism located throughout.

I also had a wonderful opportunity to sit and chat with a man whose work for the Walt Disney Company I have admired for some time, and whose new book afforded me an even greater appreciation of not just the man, but the lessons he is now sharing with others. Lee Cockerell, former Executive Vice President of Operations at the Walt Disney World Resort talk with me in the park about his background, work with and for the Company, and his new book, "Creating Magic: 10 Common Sense Leadership Strategies From a Life at Disney." It’s a fascinating look at the work, and more importantly the people backstage that make the magic for us as Guests. Mr. Cockerell offers practical, real-world advice, coupled with wonderful stories from his tenure at Disney that people can use in their everyday life.

I just returned from Walt Disney World, where I was covering a number of special events for the show. I also attended a sneak peek of the new T-Rex Café in Downtown Disney, and will bring you a little something different from that event this week. I’ll introduce a new segment this week called “How to Be an Imagineer,” in response to the question I’ve received quite often over the past few years. Disney Imagineer Ed Romeo joins me to talk about his story and journey to become an Imagineer, as well as what working at and for Imagineering was like. This interview will be the first of hopefully many that will help prove to you that the road to becoming an Imagineer might not necessarily be the path you think.

I’m back from a busy week in Walt Disney World with a full recap of the week’s events, including News and details about what is coming for 2009, including the Celebration Vacations, changes and new additions to the Wide World of Sports Complex, and a new experience in Fantasyland with Tinker Bell and her fairy friends. I’ll talk to some executives with Disney to discuss just what’s coming next.

I’ll talk about my trip with a number of other friends and listeners to the show, as we recorded our recap of the week live from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. We’ll talk about everything from our experience at the newly reopened Nine Dragons restaurant in World Showcase, dinner at the Wave at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the last nights of the Adventurer’s Club, and if we didn’t talk about food enough, I’ll play our live reviews from the promenade as we review samples from each Wonderland kiosk at Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival. It’s a first-hand, on-the-spot review of many of the culinary delights being offered at the Festival from now through November 9, 2008.

We’ll also talk about other events throughout the week, and the Inaugural Expedition Everest Challenge 5K race that took place this past Saturday. Many of us faced the Yeti and lived to tell about it, so here’s our recap of the race and party.

I also have an exclusive interview with Steve Schussler, the creator of the Rainforest Café, Yak & Yeti and Downtown Disney’s newest dining experience, the T-Rex Café. He joins me to talk about his incredible personal journey, and the creation of some of Walt Disney World’s most unique restaurants.

From there, I left the joys of a No Way Jose’ at Beaches and Cream and headed out onto the high seas for a special, 5-day cruise aboard the Disney Magic. In addition to a scheduled 2 days at Castaway Cay, this voyage was even more magical, as it was hosted by Deb Wills and Steve Barrett, and featured great events and one surprise after another. So I invited the hosts to join me this week to recap the cruise and talk about some of the magic on the Magic.

And the time has finally come – we are down to the final 3 in the Adventureland Challenge Contest, and the finalists join me on the show this week to answer a series of questions so YOU can help decide who will be crowned the Ultimate Adventurer and win the Grand Prize of the 6 day, VIP vacation for 4 to Walt Disney World.

As if the first weekend of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, the inaugural Expedition Everest Challenge, the final Hoopla at the Adventurer’s Club, and just the fact that it’s Walt Disney World isn’t enough to get you down to the parks during the weekend of September 26-28, then my first segment just might be the extra little push you need. Adam Roth, the “boy wonder” behind the Celebrations 25 event, joins me to talk about World Wide Weekend, the weekend-long, signature event that includes backstage tours, group rides, a chance to meet fellow Disney fans and so much more. I’ll be attending as well, and we’ll tell you all about the events, and how you can participate.

Since “Top Ten with Tim” sounds better than Top Ten with Samantha, Tim Foster joins me again this week for another Top 10 segment. This week, we look at the Top 10 (or 30) Places to Get Away From It All in Walt Disney World. It’s some of our favorite out of the way places, little hideaways and diversions in and out of the parks.

And finally this week, I’ll announce the names of the 3 contestants that will be moving on to the Final Round of the Adventureland Challenge Contest. Jim Henson’s MuppetVision 3D is a landmark attraction in Walt Disney World not just for it’s groundbreaking technology, classic characters, and truly hysterical show script. It’s an attraction that begins outside the show itself and carries over into arguably one of the very best queues anywhere in the Disney parks. But beyond that, it represents the work of its creator Jim Henson, and serves as a reminder of the relatively recent marriage between the Disney and Henson companies – and a deal whose negotiations began more than a decade ago.

This week, I am pleased to welcome Jim Lewis and Craig Shemin, former staff writers for the Jim Henson Company, who were instrumental in the concept, design and creation of MuppetVision 3D. We’ll discuss the creation of the attraction and so many of its priceless jokes and gags, as well as the Muppet attractions that never came to be, working with Jim Henson, and the future of the Disney and the Muppets. It’s a fun chat with two of the people that knew Jim Henson well, and today continue to preserve his legacy.

It's an interesting look at some of the welcome changes that have taken place throughout the years, and might even make you take a second look at that attraction you haven't experienced in some time.

Listener Tony Mendyk gets in the hot seat for another round of "Walt Disney World – Fact or Fiction?" He'll answer some trivia questions in a fun game where there are no prizes to be won, but just a fun way to talk about some trivia and history.

In this week's Walt Disney World News, I'll discuss a new marathon coming to Walt Disney World in 2009, another way to bring some Disney magic to your iPod, and a new set of DVDs coming from Imagineering this Fall.

My visit to the Walt Disney World Rumor Mill hints at a new way to purchase Disney theme park items right from home, parade changes coming to the Magic Kingdom, and possible confirmation of the Star Tours rumors.

Speaking of Star Tours, Star Wars Weekends begins on June 6 and runs through the month, so I wanted to discuss the events, the different elements that make up each weekend, and how to get the most out of them, whether you are a Star Wars superfan or not. So I brought in George "Darth Sidious" Taylor and Glenn "Grand Moff Tarkin" Whelan to pull up a chair in the Cantina and join me in a roundtable discussion about the weekends.

Steve Barrett and I trek through Conservation Station and Rafiki's Planet Watch hunting Hidden Mickeys, including the elusive one that can be found on a live animal as well.

News from Walt Disney World includes some Prince Caspian sightings, a new restaurant opening at one of Disney's Resorts, as well as a welcome new addition to another restaurant, and changes coming to the Wide World of Sports.

In the Walt Disney World Rumor Mill, I'll have an update to the Space Mountain rumors, a sponsor that may be moving out, and no longer Living with the Land, and a few hints at some other new rumors as well.

With Star Wars Weekends rapidly approaching, and some rumors about this attraction resurfacing once again, there is no better time for Jeff and I to don our Jedi robes and do a DSI: Disney Scene Investigation of Star Tours at Disney's Hollywood Studios. We'll explore the history of the attraction, the story behind it, a exceptionally geeky look at the queue, the shop and what the future may hold. You don't need to be a Star Wars fan to enjoy the attraction or this segment… but it might just make them a little more fun.

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to meet and chat with TC Newman, one of the two Walt Disney World Ambassadors about her role, what a day in her life is like, her duties and responsibilities, and so much more. It’s a look into one of the most highly-coveted roles in the grand Walt Disney World cast.

This week's show is going to be just a little bit different from my normal show, as I just returned from Walt Disney World, where I was visiting to cover the new Toy Story Midway Mania attraction press event. So this show is going to be focused on the new E-Ticket attraction opening in Disney's Hollywood Studios later this month.

I will first take a look at the event and attraction with Glenn Whelan, as we discuss everything from the new Pixar Studios area of the park, to the incredibly detailed queue and interactive ride experience. It's a spoiler-free review and preview of what Guests can look forward to enjoying for many years to come.

Meg Crofton, President of the Walt Disney World Resort, also spoke about what is happening not just at the Studios, but around the Resort, and will share that audio with you as well

I met with TC and Kerri, the two Walt Disney World Ambassadors, as they share their thoughts about Disney's newest attraction

I had the opportunity to interview a number of Imagineers who worked on the attraction, including Senior Show Producer Chrissie Allen, Senior Concept Writer Kevin Rafferty, Senior Show Producer Laurie Coltrin, and Vice President of Disney's Hollywood Studios Rilous Carter. I'll share audio with their thoughts on the attraction, as well as those of authors Simon and Sharon Veness from a Brit's Guide to Walt Disney World, after experiencing the attraction for the first time.

First things first – Happy Mother's Day to all moms and mothers to be.

Now on to the show… There's no news this week, as I produced the show early in anticipation of my Walt Disney World trip, but I have a number of segments I think you'll enjoy.

This week, I wanted to address a question that many of you have sent to me via email and voicemail, which involves staying off Disney property and renting a vacation home. Steve Trover, CEO of All Star Vacation Homes joins me to answer many of your frequently asked questions, as well as looks at the pros and cons of renting a vacation home, who is might be right for and who it’s not, addresses some possible concerns, and talks about the process. It's a great primer on renting a vacation home, and you just might be surprised as to some of the reasons why it might be a viable option for you and your family.

One of the most important aspects of what I do is that of giving back to others with the help of so many people through my Dream Team Project. Of course, I'm certainly not the only one, and as I’ve done in the past, this week I want to profile someone who is truly making magic, and a very big difference, in the lives of children and families that need it most. He is Bert Weiss, a radio personality at Q100 in Atlanta and founder of Bert's Big Adventure, an all expense paid trip to Walt Disney World for families that have children with life-threatening illnesses. It is an inspirational story that once again demonstrates the incredible generosity and dedication of people in the community as a whole.

I also welcome back Jeff Pepper to join me in exploring not just a hidden treasure and character connection, but a fun place to grab a hot dog and a Coke, ride the bleachers and catch a few toons. So we’ll take you out to the ballgame at Casey’s Corner on Main Street, USA.

We'll begin this week as always with our look at the Walt Disney World News, where I talk about a number of news items, including the opening of Toy Story Mania, a welcome change for DVC members, and a number of special events going on in WDW, and one outside the parks where you might get a chance to peek behind the curtain of Imagineering and learn just how they create some of the Disney magic.

Disney last week revealed the winner of the first-ever Chief Magic Official contest, and Justin Muchoney from Seven Fields, PA was named the winner out of more than 1300 applicants. Justin joins me, fresh off of the announcement to discuss the application process, rounds of judging, winning the contest, and what the future holds in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

There is never a bad time to visit Walt Disney World, but many Guests, whether it be their first or fiftieth time visiting the Resort, have to decide when is the right time of year to go for them. Often, the question of going on or off-season comes up, as there are both benefits and concerns about traveling to Walt Disney World during both the busy season and less crowded times of year. So to discuss the factors to take into consideration, as well as some of the pros and cons of each, I welcome back Jeff Pepper and George Taylor, fans and family men, to have a roundtable discussion about just that topic.

This week, I welcome back Cara Goldsbury, author of the Luxury Guide to Walt Disney World to the show, as we talk about her appearance on two new Travel Channel specials as they continue their Season of Disney series. Cara will be appearing on both the Disney Splurge and the Disney Royal Treatment shows, and will discuss each of these, as well as tips on how to splurge on some special events without breaking the bank, some luxurious experiences in Walt Disney World, and we have some fun as we wonder how you could spend a day in Disney if money was no object.

As part of my celebration of Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s 10th anniversary, this week we will take a practical look at the park, as Jeff Pepper and I talk about A Day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom – how to get the most out of what the park has to offer by spending a full day there – and more!
