Walt Disney World Rumor Mill for the week of October 5, 2008

As heard on The WDW Radio Show, episode 87.

Some quick and vague rumor tidbits this week that we invite you to discuss in our forums:

Something is going to happen both with and IN the Castle, both at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Expect a big surprise about what is going to happen to the Castle suite.

The Adventurers Club IS dead, but it will rise again like the phoenix – with a different name, story line, and time period. It may even have a food element added to it. Stay tuned, because I believe we will hear more about this sooner rather than later.

In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the food stand PetriFries, which currently sells McDonald’s French Fries, will be closed for refurbishment from November 2 – 21, 2008, and will reopen with a new name and menu later this fall. The new name is rumored to be Trilobites, although no news as to what the menu items will be.

You will see more characters in the parks over the next year, including Wall-E, Buzz, and yes, even more Stitch. Also coming to the parks, you will see new street parties as part of the new promotion, including one on Main Street and another in Tomorrowland in the area between Space Mountain and the Carousel of Progress. Look for these to be VERY interactive with lots of audience participation, lots of characters, and three words: Tommorrowland News Network.

Rumors say a new add-on experience will be coming to Walt Disney World, not a hard-ticket event like the Christmas or Halloween parties, but an additional in-park event like Epcot’s Food & Wine and Flower & Garden Festivals. Expect something new to take place during the slower months.Look for new additions to product lines, including more adult clothing, jewelry, etc. to be coming soon. Also expect even more synergy with other Disney properties and franchises, and more movie tie-ins in the parks.
