Back in the Saddle

The calendar says it’s mid-July, and MagicMeets is just a few weeks away. Time flies when… well, it seems to always fly these days.

First, some old business (or “I thought I’d posted this but oops I guess not.” Mea Culpa!)
Back in May, Disney’s Hollywood Studios celebrated its 20th anniversary. WDWCelebrations held their Studios 20 event to commemorate this milestone. As part of their mission, a portion of the registration fee and sales of event t-shirts was donated to The Dream Team Project. Lou Mongello and Pat Whitson were there to accept the $300 raised from Adam Roth, Jason Diffendal, and the rest of the WDWCelebrations team. Thank you to all!

Another $500 was raised for the Dream Team Project during a WDWRadio.com live chat, when Lou Mongello made good on his promise to jump into his swimming pool, fully clothed, at 1:00 a.m., if those participating in the chat would make the donation. Thank you to all those who participated in this stunt.

Next up on the Dream Team Project’s calendar is the Charity Auction at Fred Block’s MagicMeets Disney Fan Gathering. This year, MagicMeets is on August 8th, in Camp Hill, PA. The money raised from this auction will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America through firstgiving.com.

Over the next 10 days or so we will be posting previews of the items available for bidding. Please remember that while we have done our best to ensure accuracy, these are subject to last-minute changes, and all lots are sold as-is.

You must be attending MagicMeets to bid on the items in the auction. Tickets for MagicMeets sold out months ago. But if you are not attending, there is still a way you can help out and be a part of the fun!

WDW Today will be podcasting live from MagicMeets and inviting people to make a donation to the Dream Team Project on the firstgiving.com page. If you make a donation between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 8th, they will announce your name live on the air, and your donation will count towards the total amount raised that day. Last year, listeners raised over $1600! So please check out their live podcast at www.wdwtoday.com. They’ll even have a web cam set up so you can check out the action. Thanks again to Mike, Matt, Len, Mike, and Annette for making this happen!
