Did You Know?

June 12, 1975 – the attraction Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln returns to Disneyland after being replaced 2 years prior by The Walt Disney Story.

The original attraction opened at the New York World’s Fair on April 22, 1964.

The first Disneyland version of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln debuted July 18, 1965, in honor of the official 10th anniversary of the park.

Other Notable Disney Dates:

June 10, 1995 – over 100,000 people attend an outdoor premiere of Pocahontas in New York City’s Central Park. This is the largest (literally!) opening for an animated film, shown on 4 80-foot high screens.

June 11, 1929 – Disney’s trademark application for the image of Mickey Mouse is filed as the U.S. Patent Office.

June 13, 2002 – Disney CEO, Michael Eisner, is invited to the White House by President Bush, along with other American business leaders, to encourage volunteerism among their employees.

June 14, 1958, Disneyland’s Columbia ship opens on the Rivers of America and the attraction Alice in Wonderland opens in Fantasyland.

June 15, 1957 – Don DeFore’s Silver Banjo Barbecue restaurant opens in Disneyland’s Frontierland.

June 16, 1961 – Walt Disney purchases film rights to the Winnie-the-Pooh stories from Daphne Milne, wife of the late author A.A. Milne.

Candra Spirtoff and Megan Voisard are identical twins, born and raised in Cincinnati,  Ohio. They both graduated from the University of Cincinnati, Candra with a Bachelor’s degree in Legal Assisting and Megan with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.  They currently work as a paralegals for a local law firm.  Their passion is anything and everything Disney, and they have visited WDW almost every year since 1988, at the age of four.
