Walt Disney World Kids’ Favorites: Restaurant Edition

by Ruby

2Hello guys! This is a new series I will be writing called “Kid’s Favorites.” In this segment I will be asking kids from the ages of 6-15 (in a total of 10 people) about their favorite things in Disney. Today, we will be talking about restaurants! Everyone knows that food is one of the things we look forward to the most on our trips to Disney, and I wanted you to know what kids thought about it! (You can tell me what you want to know about kids in a future segment in the comment box.)

The first question I asked was “What is Your Favorite Type of Restaurant”? The winner was…buffets/character dining!   To me, this wasn’t a surprising answer because buffets have LOTS of appealing things for everyone and obviously, who doesn’t like to meet Mickey Mouse while they eat? Which brings me to the question: “What’s your favorite Character Restaurant”

The answer was Chef Mickey’s! Mmmmm…I can smell those Mickey waffles right now! Honestly, when I asked that question, I knew it would get lots of votes. I personally love that restaurant because it reminds me of when I was younger and going there on the last day of our trip, which was a tradition. (I was scared of the characters a little, except for Minnie!).

What’s your favorite buffet? Well out of my choices, (Which included Hollywood and Vine, The Crystal Palace, Boma, etc.) the kids’ chose Cape May Café. I love that you can draw on the tablecloth. (And the macaroni and cheese is to die for!) I like to have “Tablecloth Art” contests with my family.

Ever been to 50’s PrimeTime Café? It’s a very entertaining place filled with, funny waitresses, great atmosphere and good food. (Keep your elbows off the table or you’ll have to1 hold a sugar packet against the wall with your nose) The kids picked this for “Best Sit-down Restaurant”.  Unfortunately, I have never been to Prime Time, but I have been to “Tony’s” in Magic Kingdom, which is a favorite sit-down restaurant of mine!

Think: you’re in the parks and all of a sudden your STARVING and you need to eat immediately…we’ve all been there, right?  That’s when quick service restaurants like Pecos Bills and Sunshine Seasons come in handy. But what did our voters think was best? Toy Story Pizza Planet! I’m not surprised by this answer because kids love pizza! I also think the arcade inside makes it seem very fun to people. Personally, my FAVORITE quick stop restaurant is Cosmic Rays! It gives out such a great feeling and it just puts me in a really good mood.  I always look forward to seeing Sunny Eclipse’s performance!

Now I will be sharing some extra information that I got! (Be warned: it might shock you!) I asked all of my voters if they order off the adult’s menu and the answer with the most votes is: SOMETIMES. I can totally understand why that was the answer, let me explain. Kids love pizza and hamburgers, but eventually that will get boring. So the adult menu will become more appealing after five days of fries and hotdogs, etc.   I usually order off the adult’s menu, but I should start ordering off of the kids’ menu because I have one year until I’m considered “an adult” at restaurants!

Also, on and off, the kids would ask me what certain restaurants were because they said: “We usually don’t eat at Disney”…. WHAT?!? Never heard that before! But I shouldn’t be shocked because my family loves to eat more than any other family I know… especially when it comes to Disney World!

Well, that’s the end of our first “Kids Favorites” segment; I hope you all enjoyed it! Remember to tell me what you want to know about kids’ favorites in the comment box. Keep on eating at your favorite places and find a favorite spot for you and your family to eat every trip, make a tradition! Your kids will remember and pass it on. See you later!

Love, Ruby

OTHER FAVORITES

4I’ve told you about how much I love Disney’s restaurants, so now I will tell you some more of my favorites!

1900 Park Fair: (Location: The Grand Floridian) If you like Cinderella then you come here! While you’re eating you food, Cinderella and her friends come to greet you at your table.

Boma: (Location: Animal Kingdom Lodge) A delicious buffet with lots of options that the whole family will love! I really like the atmosphere.

Hollywood and Vine: (Location: Hollywood Studios)

Meet the Disney Junior stars while you eat! It’s really good food, but if you don’t like “Jake and the Neverland Pirates” or “Handy Manny”, I advise you not to go.

Sunshine Seasons: (Location: Epcot) Inside of The Land pavilion, a great place to stop and eat for lunch. Great for all ages.

Kimonos: (Location: The Swan) Do you like sushi? Do you like karaoke?? Then Kimonos is the PERFECT place for you! It’s one of my favorite places to eat.

Fresh: (Location: The Dolphin) This is my absolute favorite breakfast buffet! They have everything from green juices to Mickey waffles! This is a must visit place especially if you’re visiting the Dolphin. They serve lunch and dinner.
