shopDisney: Gearing up Marvel-style for Your Workout with Under Armour®

shopDisney is a bi-weekly blog that will focus on Disney merchandise and products sold in the parks, in Disney stores, and in other retail markets.  We will explore product reviews, affordability, and to whom the products are marketed.  Like any other good product review, we will conclude with a rating scale for several different key components: price, age group, and whether the product is a “must have.”

Last fall Under Armour® introduced a new line of sporting gear called Alter Ego featuring men’s, women’s, and kid’s size athletic shirts and Children's Alter Ego Clothing by Under Armorsocks.  I first learned of the line while visiting our local sporting goods store and seeing the Ironman shirt for children.  When I finally visited the Under Armour® website, it was surprising to see how large the Alter Ego line was and that there were also adult sizes.

A large majority of the men’s shirts are the compression-type and not ones that you would see men wearing in everyday life.  They may find that more men would purchase additional shirts if they offered more styles in the normal t-shirt material or even the lighter fabric found in many of the running shirts.

In contrast, the selection for women is very limited ,and they do not offer any of the newer superhero options such as Captain America or Ironman.  Again, my opinion is if Under Armour® expanded the selection to include additional superhero’s, more women would purchase them.  The women’s shirts appear to be made out of the normal t-shirt material and they offer the styles of both short-sleeve and sleeveless, which would be a nice option for hot days outside or even walking around a Disney park.

As a combination of both men and women’s selections, the children’s selections are a mixture of the compression shirts and normal t-shirts.  They had the most options available and most featured the newer Marvel characters.

In March, Under Armour® introduced football cleats for the Alter Ego line, and I can only imagine the look on an opponent’s face when they saw your Ironman cleats!  It would be an interesting way to show you are a true Marvel fan, and the overall designs of them are quite classy.  My favorite pair of the cleats are the Captain America ones because they look exactly like what “Cap” wears with his uniform.

For all of you fans out there that are exercise enthusiasts or that just want a piece of Marvel clothing, this line is for you!  I hope that you all get a chance to visit the Under Armour® website and check out their Alter Ego line for yourselves.  I know that WDW Radio has a huge running team, so this merchandise might be perfect for all of them.
