Happy Holidays! We hope everyone is enjoying this magical time of year. We have been very busy! Our houses have been filled with the delightful scent of gingerbread baking, as we prepare to make gingerbread houses with our own children. This long standing tradition is being handed down to yet another generation with the hopes of creating memories that will last a lifetime. Kitchen tables transform into gathering places…places filled with creamy white icing, delicious candies, big dreams, and yes, plenty of giggles. Who wouldn’t love to build a candy house with friends? Nobody celebrates the season quite like Disney, so why not take inspiration from the spectacular gingerbread houses created at Walt Disney World Resort? In our opinion, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is home to the most incredible, edible, gingerbread houses ever made. The artistic endeavors of those talented pastry chefs fill us with creativity! Just the ingredients list alone is overwhelming!
You need:
1,050 lbs honey
140 pints egg whites
600 lbs powdered sugar
700 lbs chocolate
800 lbs flour
35 lbs spices
Tons of creativity
Disney Magic
Pixie Dust
Our girls tried their hands at creating gingerbread houses on a much smaller scale of course, but we can never forget the incredible lessons Walt Disney taught us when it comes to working hard and being creative:
Emma and Sophia
“Dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.”
“If you can dream it, you can do it!”
“See…it’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”
“Now remember, whatever you do, do it well.”
“Every child is born blessed with a vivid imagination.”
“You know, too many people grow up. That’s the real trouble with the world…they forget what it’s like to be twelve.”

Hello Everyone! Our names are Maureen Petrone and Pamela Rose. We are moms, avid Disney fans and elementary school teachers from Long Island, New York. When we are not in the “House of Mouse” with our families, we can be found in our classrooms. We call ourselves “TeachEars.” We love the thrill and wonder of the Disney experience. The educational opportunities are endless! Walt Disney was a visionary, who taught us all to think big and dream bigger. It’s a wonderful message for our students. The classroom/Disney connection is a perfect fit! We hope to bring you some interesting blog posts about the Wonderful & Educational World of Disney.
