Setting Sail! Cruisin’ with Lou and Beci

One of the best things about listening to the WDW Radio podcast is the feeling of belonging to the podcast family. Whether you personally know Lou or not, you can’t help but feel like friends. Participating in The Box shows, being a member of WDW Radio Nation, and communicating on Facebook pages only solidifies the special friendship you feel towards Lou and the other listeners. Having been fortunate enough to attend some of the WDW Radio special events over the years, I was very excited to see the Double Dip Disney Cruise on the 2017 agenda. Not only would my husband and myself spend two glorious days at Castaway Cay, but we would get to do it with the WDW Radio family!

While this was our third cruise, the Double Dip Disney Cruise was our first time cruising with a group. At first, I was slightly apprehensive because I was unsure of the group dynamic. Would there be too many group activities, would we be expected to always hang out with the group, what about trying to talk to all those new people?? After experiencing the cruise, I can honestly say all of those worries were unfounded. I knew from previous experiences that WDW Radio events are always fun, well organized, and sprinkled with pixie dust, and cruisin’ with Lou was no different. If you are on the fence or thinking about signing up for a WDW Radio event, even if it’s just a Meet of the Month, let me tell you why you should!!

  • THE PEOPLE: The fellow WDW Radio cruisers that Eric and I met while on the cruise were amazingly friendly. Starting up conversations with each other was so easy, and often fellow group members would come up and introduce themselves to us. Within the first day, we were saving seats for each other, planning additional meet ups, and looking forward to seeing each other around the ship. Of course, we initially talked about Disney, but we ended up learning so much about the other WDW Radio cruisers. To my surprise, we formed new friendships and look forward to keeping in touch via Facebook and email with our fellow cruisers.

  •  THE ACTIVITIES: Lou and Beci did a phenomenal job planning group activities. There was a wonderful balance of activities, and Eric and I never felt like our vacation days were consumed with WDW Radio events. Every activity is voluntary, of course, but I tried to attend them all! There were fun competitive activities with prizes, group games, an ice cream social, and special WDW Radio only events. The scavenger hunt was an awesome way to get acquainted with the ship while getting in loads of trivia, and the Castaway Cay White Elephant exchange was another great highlight.  I personally loved the door decorating contest; I had a great time roaming the halls and seeing the creativity of the group members.

  • LOU AND BECI: What would the a WDW Radio Cruise be without Lou and Beci? I can not stress enough how friendly and accessible they were. Both took the time to speak with everyone, take pictures, and answer questions. No matter what the activity, they both made sure to walk around the room and spend time with the fellow cruisers. There were multiple times we would see Lou or Beci (or Deanna) in the halls, and they would stop to ask us how we were and what our plans were. I know this probably sounds silly, after all they are very friendly people, but I’m not sure what I was expecting. It was so easy speaking with them and never once did I feel like they would rather be somewhere else.

So next time you see a WDW Radio event that peaks your interest, sign up for it!! You will not be disappointed, and you will not only come away with some incredible memories, but also new friends.
