WDW Tip of the Week: The Twenty Year Service Award Ring

WDW Tip of the Week

Walt Disney World can be an overwhelming experience of sights, sounds, and smells—even for the most seasoned guests. With so much to see and do, it’s easy to overlook those unique touches and experiences that are part of the Walt Disney World story.

Cast Member with 20 Year RingA few years ago while chatting with a Cast Member at the Magic Kingdom, I noticed he was wearing a gold ring.  It wasn’t just any gold ring.  This was a ring with an image of Mickey Mouse on it.

The ring he said was a Walt Disney World 20 year service ring, presented to Cast Members who complete 20 years of continuous service with the company.  Created with 10K or 14K yellow gold (depending on the year of issue), each ring has the Cast Member’s date of hire engraved on one side of the band and the iconic Disney “D” on the reverse side of the band.

Because the Walt Disney Company no longer issues 20 year service rings and because many Cast Members that owned one have retired, they are rare finds among Cast Members still working in the parks.

Do you know of a Cast Member that owns a 20 year service ring?  Does Mayor Weaver of Main Street, U.S.A. have one?  What about Fire Chief Smokey Miller?  Inquiring Walt Disney World fans want to know!

There is so much to discover and learn at Walt Disney World! So keep your eyes and your ears ready!
