Close your eyes, and dream of Walt Disney World. But, don’t visualize. Audiolize. What’s that song or melody that you hear?
It’s January, and we’re searching for our “Music” inductee into the WDW Radio Hall of Fame. Not familiar with the hall? Take a glimpse back at our introduction.
Defining the Category
We’re in the music category, but this not only includes music, but the performers, song writers, acts, or anything that involves music in Walt Disney World. Except the Frozen Sing-Along Celebration. I kid, I kid.
Potential nominees
Now, here are just some ideas to help spur the discussion:
- The Dapper Dans: A mainstay on Main Street, U.S.A., the Dapper Dans are a talented barbershop quartet whose melodies are just as iconic as their striped vests.
- The Sherman Brothers: Just think about these songs, “The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room,” “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow,” and “it’s a small world (after all).” I could go on and on.
- The Theme to the Main Street Electrical Parade (Baroque Hoedown): An iconic arrangement, which makes a remix appearance in the music of the Paint the Night Parade. The Main Street Electrical Parade was inducted into the WDW Radio Hall of Fame in 2018.
- Donald Duck: Just from the amount of punishment that Donald takes during every showing of Mickey’s PhilharMagic … he deserves an award.
