The Scariest Thing at Walt Disney World

It’s Halloween, where all things creepy, spooky, and scary are celebrated. And typically, we don’t think about “scary” and “Walt Disney World” together. But there are some things that scare even us – the WDW Radio Blog Team.

We asked the Team, and here are some of the responses –

"For me, the scariest thing at WDW is getting stuck on the Haunted Mansion when they need to stop the attraction to let guests on. I don't do well on a lot of dark enclosed rides, but I appreciate the history behind the attraction, so I force myself to go on it. This has happened to me several times and the worst is when we stop in the attic or graveyard. The photo in the attic of the bride and groom also scares the daylights out of me. It's so creepy to see a photo of someone on the happiest day of their lives transform into skeletons...eek!"

“I am not ashamed to admit that as a grown adult, I refuse to ride DINOSAUR. The one and only time I rode this attraction was when it was still known as Countdown to Extinction. I spent almost the entirety of the ride with my eyes closed because every time I opened them, I was so terrified by all of the unbelievably convincing creatures showing up amidst light flashes and loud noises. In fact, all that could be seen of me in our on-ride photo was my two arms covering my head as I crouched down in my Time Rover seat.”

"Sometimes, there is one thing that gets you ... and it gets you every time. Mine is on the Haunted Mansion in the room where "Grim, Grinning Ghosts" plays, just a few seconds before you reach the hitchhiking ghosts. You're focused on the different gravestones or animatronics a few feet away. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, you hear a psst of air and a skeleton pops up in front of them all. A simple skeleton. I've ridden Haunted Mansion numerous times, know it's coming, prepare myself for it, and it still gets me to jump."

I guess that's one of my favorite things about Disney. There aren't too many "scariest"! The only thing I can think of is the original ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter. That was a one and done for me!

My scariest thing is leaving!
