Spoiler Support Group Preview – Top 5 Screen and Stream Releases in May 2022

Don’t worry! No spoilers ahead. Just a Top-5 list of releases in May 2022 that will get the Spoiler Support Group buzzing from the big screen to the big stream. Let’s go!

1. Marvel’s Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness (May 6)

By the time you read this, Lou is probably already in line at the AMC in Disney Springs for this one. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been inching toward the edge of that Multiverse cliff, and with Doctor Strange’s sequel, I think we all anticipate the MCU to jump right off the edge deep, deep into the Multiverse. Will we see the Fantastic 4? WIll we see the X-Men (please)? Only one way to find out! Go join Lou in line and await the Madness!

2. The Quest (May 11)

Disney+ is bringing a hybrid competition/narrative series to its streaming platform where real-life teenagers will find themselves in a fantasy world where they are tasked to save Everealm. This unique, interactive reality competition / fantasy tale has remarkable potential and could be a template for even more creative storytelling to come in the future.

3. Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers (May 20)

While nostalgia-baked Disney properties do come around often, as a child of the “Ch-Ch-Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers!” (how many of you sang that?) I’m not even mad at it! Give me the nostalgia, Hawaiian shirt, and classic theme song and throw in a modern twist! Pure gold. If you don’t believe me, just watch the trailer for yourself.

4. We Feed People (May 27)

Switching gears, next on the list is a documentary with Jaleo’s chef Jose Andreas chronicling 12 years of the World Central Kitchen, and gives an in-depth look at what they provide on the frontline of disaster to all affected. This is sure to be a riveting and compelling watch. Check it out.

5. Obi-Wan Kenobi Premiere (May 27)

Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time… But, the long awaited, much anticipated, Ewan McGregor celebrated Disney+ Original Series is just around the corner. So I am here as the self-proclaimed WDW Radio Blog Writer Nerd of Disney Screen Media Expertise (gotta work on that title) to give everyone in the Clubhouse some information that you need to know *wink* before everyone’s favorite old desert hermit makes his way to our screens on May 27! For this month’s deep dive, I will take you through five things to know before Episode 1 to get new fans prepped and diehard fans hyped to see light sabers and droids and the magnificent Kenobi beard yet again! So here they are:

5…ish Things To Know Before Obi-Wan Kenobi
  1. Inquisitors – Former Jedi who have been tasked to work with Darth Vader to hunt down and destroy any remaining Jedi.
  2. Timeline – 10 years after Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. This means Luke is 10 years old and the events of Episode IV: A New Hope are 9 years away.
  3. Owen and Beru – The actors who played Luke’s aunt and uncle in episodes II and III are back to reprise their roles, and there is sure to be some tension between them and Old Ben Kenobi about how to raise the future savior of the galaxy, Luke Skywalker.
  4. Vader – Also back is Hayden Christiansen to play Vader. Does this mean the mask is coming off? Could there be flashbacks? We’re going to find out.
  5. Off-Screen – Notably, we have director Deborah Chow who did two excellent episodes of The Mandaloroian, and John Williams himself is doing the theme, so get ready to be moved from the title screen on.

*Exhales* And THAT is a list of 5 things I think the Spoiler Support Group and everyone in the WDW Radio Clubhouse should check out for May 2022. What are you most excited for? Anything you are more excited to check out now? Let us know in the comments in either/both of the groups! May the Force Be With You.

My name is Tyler. I’m 25 years old and I live in Georgia with my wife, Ragan. I am a huge fan of the Disney parks after reigniting my childhood love of Disney on a trip in which I proposed! Since that 2017 trip, we have been back to our home away from home several times, and like many of you, we’re always in the pre-planning stage of a Disney vacation whether it happens or not. I have been a huge fan of Marvel and Star Wars my entire life on a very deep and highly invested level, and I hope my love and passion for these properties (as well as all Disney storytelling on and off the screen) comes through.
