About two and a half years ago, Lou asked me if I would be interested in working on the blog for the WDW Radio site. An avid writer and passionate Disney fan, I was honored and excited, though a bit lost. How do I fill a site with information for the diverse, huge Disney community? What can I write about? Will others read it?
Lou sent me some names of people who had volunteered to write for the site, and I started feeling may way through this position. The small team and I talked and brainstormed. We experimented–some posts worked, while some seemed not to strike a chord. Over the years, our knowledge has grown, and I hope our instinct for what the WDW Radio family wants to read has been refined.
Many bloggers have been part of the team–some for special posts, some for a short series, and some as regular, weekly writers. Some have been with us for years, and others are new to our growing family. ALL have added to our collection of Disney information and fun to be shared with anyone planning for, learning about, or just missing Disney!
This blog represents the 2,999th blog to be published on the site, and I do hope you will join us tomorrow for our 3000th post, a very special salute to the current writing team. I am so very proud of and grateful to this team of WDW Radio bloggers, which since its first post by Lou on February 9, 2005, has featured SEVENTY FOUR different writers. I created the image below as a way of celebrating all these individuals and thanking them for contributing to the blog.
As another way to celebrate the contributions of ALL of the writers–past and present–we will be launching a new blog theme later this week: OUT OF THE WDW RADIO VAULT, where posts from the past will be re-published, so we can reflect on how things have (or have not!) changed in the last eight years, reminisce about the past, and prepare for the exciting Disney future.
Finally, on behalf of the other 73 people who have written for the WDW Radio blog, THANK YOU for reading our work! You have no idea HOW VERY MUCH every comment you make on our blogs means to us. Knowing you are there, reading and enjoying our work is so gratifying, and gives us the inspiration to write even more. Please continue reading, sharing, and commenting.
