Music has the power to generate great joy, encourage celebration, set a mood, sooth the human soul, and alter one’s frame of mind, and the music of Walt Disney World accomplishes all those things and more. Walt Disney Imagineers understand that the well-planned use of music is integral to their ability to successfully provide visitors to WDW with profound and uniquely memorable experiences. They know that the rhythms and lyrics of music produce spontaneous as well as contagious responses capable of triggering the brain to mark special moments in time. The power of music within the parks and resorts is a true wonder of the Walt Disney “World.”
And so, it is the music of Walt Disney World‘s attractions that make up our list of 32 contenders for the 4th Annual WDW Radio Magic Madness. With an enumerable list of songs and scores from which to choose, it was necessary to set two qualifications to narrow the field. First, each song/score had to be written for the attraction; it could not originate from the film on which the attraction is based. For example, You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly! was featured in Peter Pan and did not originate with Peter Pan’s Flight, so it is out. Second, the sheer number of songs from the Walt Disney World parade songbook could have filled an entire bracket, so those have been removed from the list, as they would have been too difficult to narrow to a single song or two.
While songs were being reviewed, it was noted that a number of WDW‘s most memorable songs are now extinct. These favorites could not be overlooked! As a result, the bracket is a showdown of current and extinct songs/scores. In the Fantastic Finals, a current favorite will face off against an extinct favorite.
