What weighs 4.2 tons (8,400 pounds), is 10-foot-tall, is operated by a pilot, and is now at Disney’s Animal Kingdom? It’s the Pandora Utility Suit, and it’s on the move!

Currently appearing twice daily outside the Satu’li Canteen, the primary use of this utility suit is to meet and greet with guests and talk about the unique environment of Pandora: The World of Avatar. The suit was created specifically for Disney’s Animal Kingdom through a partnership of Lightstorm Entertainment, Disney Parks Live Entertainment, Michael Curry Studios, and Walt Disney Imagineering.

During the Meet and Greet, the pilot, or Pandora Conservation Initiative Scientist, will share technical information about the utility suit. For example, how long it takes for the pilot to don the suit and control movements, including the articulated hands. Unlike the war machines you might remember from the film, the Animal Kingdom utility suits were designed for research needs—to study the unique flora and fauna of Pandora.

During the presentation, the pilot will engage guests with Pandora trivia, and I would suggest that you practice your Banshee call—you may be selected to waken the Banshees that live in the Valley of Mo’ara.

Check the daily Times Guide in the park or the My Disney Experience app for the Pandora Utility Suit Encounter schedule.
