It’s hard to count how many times I have been to Walt Disney World Resort, as I have been visiting since 1971. But, I do know that until my past two trips this year I have always been on the conservative side with my apparel. I can’t remember ever wearing Mickey Mouse Ears, even as a child. However, for Christmas, I gave my two daughters Rose Gold Minnie Mouse Ears (which were sold out most of the time), and I splurged and gave myself a pair of Minnie Mouse Timeless Ears. Now mind you, at 52 years old, I was going way out on a limb that I would actually wear these ears. They were so popular last fall that I had to order mine from Disneyland Resort via a personal shopper! Needless to say, I wore my Minnie Mouse Timeless Ears everyday for ten days during my January trip. I had so much fun. I even took a picture of just my ears at all four parks. One of the reasons we were at WDW was for the runDisney Dopey Challenge which consists of a 5K, 10K, half and full marathons. For the 10K, a group of us ran as Mouseketeers and ran with our Mickey Mouse Ear Hats. Plus, after I finished the full marathon, I was given a pair of 25th Anniversary Marathon Mickey Mouse Ears, which I wore with great pride.
During the runDisney Princess Half Marathon Weekend in February, I traveled to WDW for a “girl’s weekend” with some of my WDW Radio Running Team friends. Again for the 10K, a group of us dressed like pink Minnie Mouse complete with cute Minnie Mouse Ears, and yes we wore them while running! During the Expo, all four of us purchased Rose Gold Minnie Mouse Ears. We wore them everywhere that weekend. While at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we even had a group “Rose Gold Ear” photo with people we didn’t even know. Later, we met up with more teammates and had another “Rose Gold Ear” photo, and this time we grabbed a guy walking by who was wearing Rose Gold Ears. It was so much fun.
As I write this post, I am getting ready to sail with WDW Radio to Alaska on Disney Cruise Line, and I was excited to find a simple pair of silver wire Mickey Mouse Ears which I plan to wear on the cruise! I think I am hooked on this Mickey Mouse Ear thing!
So I encourage everyone to let loose a little, put on your Mickey Mouse Ears and have fun – life is too short, so let the magic happen and have fun on your next trip to Walt Disney World Resort!
