I live in a constant state of homesickness (aka missing Walt Disney World), so I’m always trying to find ways to celebrate the Disney magic at home. I listen to tons of Walt Disney World podcasts, read any Disney book I can get my hands on, and cook Disney recipes. My favorite activity is watching Disney+ with my husband and dreaming about our next trip. Keep reading for our top three pixie dust picks on Disney+!
Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom
In partnership with National Geographic, this series takes viewers behind the scenes at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park for a wild look at the facilities, cast members, and care required to house a host of animal species. This series originally debuted in 2020 and currently has eight episodes running about 42 minutes each. Each episode focuses on 2 or 3 animals in Disney’s care. I loved how the show utilizes a virtual park/property map to show exactly where the areas featured in each episodes could be found. I also loved how aquatic animals from The Seas with Nemo in Epcot were also featured!
Disney Behind the Attraction
Premiering just this year, Disney Behind the Attraction is the most recently released series on
my list. With a run time of approximately 45 minutes you will follow your host on an informative and incredible journey to learn all about the most popular Disney attractions (Haunted Mansion, Disney Transportation, It’s a Small World… just to name a few). I can’t say enough good things about this series!
Learning about the Imagineering behind the attraction, background story, and other Disney tidbits is what I live for. I love how sound bites from past and present Imagineers are interwoven throughout each episode to tell a complete personal story.
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge: Adventure Awaits
This 80-minute show introduces viewers to the newest land in the Disney Parks. Join a slew of celebrity hosts to learn about all the fun adventures awaiting guests at Galaxy’s Edge. I personally like how this show does not focus primarily on the new attractions but explores the different themed shops and dining venues.
These three shows are just the tip of the iceberg (or Matterhorn) on Disney+! There’s something for everyone to enjoy including a few of my other favorites – The Imagineering Story, Disney Parks Sunrise Series, and Decorating Disney: Holiday Magic. Disney+ programming is an excellent way for any Mouseketeer to get a Disney fix between park visits.

My name in Erin Stough. I’m an avid bookworm and Hogwarts student wannabe. My first trip to “the World” was in third grade and I’ve been hooked since. My love for obscure Walt Disney World trivia, back stories (especially about the resort properties), and details led to my writing for the WDW Radio blog since early 2016. I became a proud Disney Vacation Club member in 2004 and my husband and I discovered (and fell in love with) the Disney Cruise Line in 2013. When my nose is not buried in a book, I love listening to new arrangements of classic Disney songs, watching Disney live action movies from the 60’s and early 70’s, and spending time with family.
