Inside Disney’s New Cake Bake Shop: Exclusive Video Tour, Tasting, and Talk with Founder Gwendolyn Rogers and Ashley Eckstein

If you know me, you know that I love discovering new places, trying new things, and sharing delicious Disney experiences with you… especially when they involve a little magic, a little sparkle, and a whole lot of cake.

So when I heard that The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers was opening at Disney’s BoardWalk, I knew I had to check it out. Not just because it was brand-new (you know I love to try new things), but because I had a feeling this was going to be something special.

Spoiler alert… It was. In fact, it’s so much more than just a restaurant. The Cake Bake Shop is an experience. A celebration. A little storybook fantasy that somehow manages to be elegant, extravagant, and incredibly welcoming all at once.

🎥 Watch the Full Experience

Before we dig into all the sweet details (pun very much intended), be sure to watch my full video tour and review over on the WDW Radio YouTube channel. I had the honor of being joined by the always-inspiring and ever-fabulous Ashley Eckstein as we explored the space, sampled the sweets, and laughed our way through this glittering culinary adventure.

You’ll get a real feel for the décor, the dishes, the details, and — of course — our very serious reactions to all the sugar. 😂

✨ First Impressions: A Fairytale Come to Life

Walking into The Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk feels like stepping into the pages of a storybook… or maybe a scene from a classic Disney animated film. It’s whimsical without being over-the-top. It’s elegant without feeling exclusive.

From the moment you enter, you’re surrounded by shimmering chandeliers, soft pastel tones, and just the right amount of sparkle. Every inch of the space is thoughtfully designed — not just to impress, but to invite you to slow down, take it all in, and enjoy.

The restaurant is divided into two main experiences: the full-service Table Dining Room and the quick-service Bakery Counter. Whether you’re here for a full meal or just grabbing a slice (or two… or three) of cake to-go, you’re in for something special.

🎂 The Story Behind the Sparkle

The Cake Bake Shop is the dream-come-true of Gwendolyn Rogers — a passionate baker, entrepreneur, and storyteller whose vision blends the art of baking with the joy of celebration.

What started as a single shop in Indiana has grown into a nationally-recognized brand, beloved for its over-the-top cakes, decadent desserts, and magical ambiance. And now, this dream has made its way to Walt Disney World, fitting in perfectly with the charm of Disney’s BoardWalk.

I love that this isn’t just a chain opening another location — it’s a personal expression of passion, creativity, and heart. And when you walk through the doors, you feel that.

🍽️ The Menu: More Than Just Cake (But Let’s Be Honest… the Cake is the Star)

Yes, The Cake Bake Shop is known for its iconic, towering, sparkle-dusted cakes. But don’t sleep on the rest of the menu! This is a full-service restaurant offering brunch, lunch, and dinner options that are just as thoughtfully prepared as the desserts.

During our visit, Ashley and I sampled:

  • The famous Millionaire Cake – Layers of chocolate ganache, peanut butter mousse, caramel, and gold dust. Yes, GOLD DUST.
  • French-inspired savory dishes like quiche and tea sandwiches that are as flavorful as they are beautiful.
  • Signature beverages (yes, even the drinks have sparkle).

Whether you’re a foodie, a dessert-lover, or just looking for something new to try, there’s truly something for everyone. And yes — gluten-free and vegetarian options are available.

Pro tip: Save room for dessert. And then maybe bring a second stomach for dessert round two.

🪞Details, Details, Details…

You know how much I appreciate storytelling in design — and The Cake Bake Shop nails it. Every element, from the vintage mirrors and hand-selected art to the sparkling cake stands and curated playlist, contributes to a cohesive, immersive atmosphere.

Even the restrooms are beautiful. I’m not kidding. You’ll probably want to take photos everywhere. (But not IN the restrooms… seriously)

And during the holidays, the space transforms with festive décor, twinkling lights, and a cozy, enchanting ambiance that makes it perfect for seasonal visits. Honestly, it’s always a good time to visit… but the holidays here are something extra magical.

👨‍👩‍👧 Who is The Cake Bake Shop Perfect For?

This is one of those rare places that’s ideal for:

  • A birthday celebration or special occasion

🎉 Final Thoughts: A Must-Try Disney Dining Experience

The Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a destination. It’s a celebration of food, creativity, and joy. And it’s the kind of place that leaves you smiling long after the last bite of cake.
